IMPACT AND DELIVERABLES

Oncology is an exceptionally demanding discipline, burdening healthcare systems not only at the patient level, where needs change and evolve rapidly, but also at the provider level. Healthcare providers face immense pressure to maintain a well-coordinated ecosystem of caretakers and systems, while also staying up-to-date with the latest research, protocols, and access to cutting-edge technology and treatment options.

How might a system such as Philip’s Hospital System lead the way into a slew of integrated care solutions in a way that can benefit patients, and providers? What can we learn from the Oncology care domain on this topic?

We immersed ourselves in the oncology field by interviewing over 10 experts, including internal Philips actors, customers, and key opinion leaders in North America and Brazil. Additionally, we conducted field research with over 30 individuals from administrative, clinical, billing, and executive roles.

These yielded 45 insights, from which we distilled 5 key benefits of EHRs in oncology care, leading to a re-imagined oncology care journey.

We formalised key UX heuristics and guidelines, defining new UI components and features to integrate winning propositions for Designing for Integrated Care.
